Our work sits at the intersections of research, art and social justice.
The Body is Home is a multidisciplinary research initiative exploring what it means to be at home in our bodies through movement and community. We know how transformative movement and community can be in individual and collective life, and the impact they have on overall wellbeing.

INSPIRED BY MOVEMENT. POWERED BY PEOPLE. LINKED BY COMMUNITY.
WE RECLAIM & RECONNECT TO RESTORE THROUGH...
Research and Advocacy
We are committed to conducting research that amplifies the voices and experiences of Black and racialized individuals. Through our advocacy efforts, we seek to address systemic issues and promote social justice within the community.
Building Connections and Partnerships
Our workshops provide a space for individuals to explore movement as a form of self-expression, healing and reimagining. We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment that centers safety and choice.
Community Events
and Activations
We believe in the power of community and strive to create meaningful connections through our events and partnerships. By fostering a sense of belonging, we aim to create and advocate for supportive networks and spaces for individuals to explore their relationship with their bodies and movement.

OUR IMPACT

"One might think of it as a coming together of sorts, where we can come home to ourselves, our breath, every moment, tears, sips of water, or a connection. Home is then a metaphor that exists within and between the self and the many parts that make a [us] whole.
In either form, it underscores how movement and community help us find, define, defy (sometimes cry), and reclaim what it means to be and feel at home in our bodies. "
